My OH use to rent a room in a house that was sub let. It was a 3 bed house. One girl who lived there rented the whole house and she let the other 2 rooms. So my OH paid the girl rather than the owner on the house. All worked fine, there was never any issues and 7 years later we are still good friends. Not sure how it all works out on paper though.

I looked into this a bit as I have a 2-bed which I can easily afford myself but was toying with the idea of letting the spare room (for more pony money!) – the letting agents wouldnt have it unless the other person was named on the tenancy.

I think you will struggle to find someone who will allow you to do this because it could cause a whole load of problems, we have houses and flats we rent and we wouldn’t allow it but that’s not to say some tenants don’t do it, how would you do it would the person have their own tenancy agreement?

If i was landlord I would always say no as a sub let. The reason being that if they are going to be responsible for a part of the rent share, I want to reference them and I’m also not sure how the LL stands with the right to rent checks on a sub let? Secondly if they are an adult, living there, I want them named and signatory on the tenancy…[Read more]

Has anyone had any success getting permission from a landlord to rent out a room in the house you rent from them? I would like to let a 2 bed house and find someone to rent the other room but wondering how common it is for landlord/letting agents to allow this…will make inquiries tomorrow but just thought I’d see what you guys had to say!
Sorry…[Read more]

Hermes patchy round here too, delivered to the wrong house, my neighbour who was away and left the parcel in her drive.
I’m still waiting for a delivery from something I ordered on 21st December, I was assured I didn’t need to pay for next day delivery and first class would be fine. Supplier has been shut since lunchtime on the 23Rd until this…[Read more]

YODEL are marginally better than Hermes who are absolutely horrific, I won’t buy from any company who I know use them as couriers because they are such a joke. I think if you are a bit off the beaten track couriers in general seem to dislike you.

We tend to have problems with my hermes around here – parcels always damaged, and 99% of the time are found about 5 miles down the road in a ditch about a week after they should have arrived! If they do happen to actually drive past the house, they will chuck the box over the hedge rather than put it by the front gate (or god forbid, actually…[Read more]

Day 1…. Can’t find address
Day 2…. ( Christmas eve) Text to say package delivered through letterbox Parcel was expected to be a LARGE cardboard box. Needless to say we looked everywhere no sign of a delivery.Day 3 ( Boxing Day) rang Argos, they said package was recorded as returned to depot.…[Read more]

I find Hermes good, I think it depends on who your local Hermes couriers are if you are to have good service or not.I have sent over 100 parcels with Hermes and the only time one was delayed was my fault as I changed the address by hand on the label as the next door neighbour to where I was sending it had very similarly named house and it was…[Read more]

I am awaiting a Yodel delivery. They have allegedly tried to deliver twice and left a card on both occasions. They are clearly lying as we were in, there are no cards and the motion alarm didn’t sound.
When I contacted customer services on ‘chat’, they asked for directions to to house. I pointed out if he’d left 2 cards, he knew full well where…[Read more] -

I know when I worked for a retailer in their call centre years ago that if the delivery was late and it was yodel I may as well just refund delivery straight away, give them a voucher and apologise a lot.
I have had stuff delivered by yodel though that has arrived on time in recent years so maybe they are improving slowly.

The yodel guy round here takes pride in knowing where everyone is and hates using his satnav unless absolutely necessary. But drivers like him are few and far between. Like the Amazon driver who turned up the other day, sat blocking the drive for 5mins as he couldn’t deliver before his specified time, then practically threw the parcel at me with a…[Read more]

I have issues with myHermes rather than YODEL, but is infuriating isn’t it!
I’ve found DPD very good.
Hope your parcel arrives soon
Agreed. The Hermes man regularly phones me and says he hasn’t got time to deliver “away out there” and can I collect from his house (5 miles away so hardly away out there!). I’ve never agreed to go to his house but…[Read more]

Yet again waiting for a YODEL delivery, 3rd day in a row.
DAy 1, apparently we were out, no card and cctv shows no delivery attempt made
Day 2 forgot to put parcel on the van
Day 3 Can’t find the house.
In the meantime we have had countless other deliveries from other companies as it seems that our house, which has been here for 1000+ years is…[Read more]

We did with the machine that was a washer/ drier, but not often, maybe every couple of months, it lasted 10 years or so. When clogged it did not dry, and if very bad it did not spin efficiently either.
The last one we never did find a filter, it was with us for about 6 years, and in the end the door catch broke, and it would have cost too much to…[Read more]

well Ive not cleaned my washing machine filter at all and Ive had it 4 years. My tumble dryer filter I clean after every use. I would definitely go back to the shop you got it from, that seems unrealistic to have to do it so frequently.

I have an 8 year old Bosch machine and I can honestly say I don’t even know where the filter is. I think I had better go and find it ;D
