  • I am biased as I would really not enjoy living in London. I lived there as a kid, moved out at age 9 and would not go back for loadsamoney!

  • I cannot offer much help but did not want to read and run. I can advise start with GP and AA.

  • Very frustrating but nothing you can do, although I hope we are all here for you to give a shoulder to cry on or vent at.

In which spirit, I had one last year: I parked in a park and ride a while ago at the end of a row and somebody later came and parked in very close to me, on a no-parking cross-hatched area – so close that I had to climb in…[Read more]

There was a very interesting article on the radio in the week asking why? is it thats its always the same few trust that are in crisis and the ones we hear about. If you went round many trust last week people were getting treated quickly but I guess that doesnt make the news, some were going in and out in under half an hour. As somebody pointed out…[Read more]

  • If i was landlord I would always say no as a sub let. The reason being that if they are going to be responsible for a part of the rent share, I want to reference them and I’m also not sure how the LL stands with the right to rent checks on a sub let? Secondly if they are an adult, living there, I want them named and signatory on the tenancy…[Read more]

  • I have issues with myHermes rather than YODEL, but is infuriating isn’t it!

    I’ve found DPD very good.

    Hope your parcel arrives soon

Agreed. The Hermes man regularly phones me and says he hasn’t got time to deliver “away out there” and can I collect from his house (5 miles away so hardly away out there!). I’ve never agreed to go to his house but…[Read more]

  • Kelly replied to the topic Rising/lateral damp in the forum Chit chat 6 years, 8 months ago

You need to find out how much it will cost to rectify the damp. You might also find your lender won’t want to mortgage a property with a known problem like that so you could risk having your mortgage offer withdrawn. That said, plenty of people buy wrecks of houses with worse problems and as long as the price reflects the work needed to be done,…[Read more]

  • I have been contracting for a number of years.

Best route is for your OH to set up a limited company – in the contract world most companies don’t like dealing with sole traders. Set up isn’t expensive. When you do the set up divide the shares between yourself and OH – you can both take dividends which reduces the tax burden.

Look for a bank that…[Read more]

  • They need massive amounts of space, the bog standard hutches sold I know everyone Pets at Home are frankly cruel. Please go onto a proper rabbit forum and see the set up people recommend. You should have runs for them, as big as possible

I do think they should be encouraged produce healthier products where they can.

Along with excessive levels of chemical preservative, sugars, salt, saturated fat etc. I think we are on the right track with what people expect now a days, but got a long way to go.

I’m not taking about sweets, pizzas etc, those are choices people make. But simple…[Read more]

I watched the food programme that went through the decades. Interesting viewing. Sugar has been hidden and introduced into many of our foods. Coupled with that people seem to push more pens than have active jobs I think is where the problem lies.

  • Can’t say I am surprised! We seem to have caught up with America . When I was a teenager (dawn of time) the only time you saw anyone eating in the street was after the pictures when you got fish and chips in newspaper. Everyone now seems to be clutching a phone, a bottle of drink, or munching on cake, takeaway , or sweets! There are more cafe’s…[Read more]

  • Funnily enough I was just reading about histadine earlier today, when checking my facts while answering the ‘obese’ thread. I don’t know about the supplement but if you think you might need it, I would start taking it and monitor very carefully.

  • We have a house that we rent out, it’s been pretty problem free and we’ve had good tenants over the years. Until now that is.

Current tenant is a young single mother who was having the rent paid by benefits. She was given a tenancy agreement (assured short hold) with her mother as a signed guarantor, for 12 months. After that if both parties were…[Read more]

A heads up is always good.

For those that don’t know, never download anything you are asked to, especially from telephone cold callers. These third party access programs can track your activity including password information, and they can ‘take over’ control of your computer. This is another reason computers should never be left on and unattended…[Read more]

Oh sweetie. The worry is completely understandable though hopefully all is fine and it’s easily fixed. Can you call the surgeon’s secretary and chivvy for the next MRI?

  • I used to be a personal trainer so it’s pretty embarrassing that I can’t motivate myself at the moment. Full time job, horses before and after, constant fatigue, living on a diet of sugar, you know the story!

I’ve been ill for the last week and am struggling to get off my butt and work out. I have all the fitness gear at home you could ever wish…[Read more]

@Red-1 Where do you draw the line though? There are so many incidents or diseases that can be ‘blamed’ on lifestyle?
anyone having an accident while taking part in leisure activities.

I agree that money alone will not solve the NHS’s problems. It seems to me that the NHS needs more money and to do some things differently.

    Disturbing, if true.

(You can mute the annoying raspy muzak – there’s no spoken commentary, and I have transcribed the essential text below.)

If it isn’t true, I’d like to know which bits aren’t.

Our NHS is facing a “humanitarian crisis”.
Leading doctors have warned the Prime Minister lives are being…[Read more]
