To be honest, even with the best will in the world, I don’t think it is going to be possible to maintain the NHS in its present form into the future.
It is inevitable that it will have to become at least part paid for by the end user directly.
Medicine is becoming more personalised and as a result, more costly. Many of the new drugs coming through…[Read more]

  • I find Hermes good, I think it depends on who your local Hermes couriers are if you are to have good service or not.I have sent over 100 parcels with Hermes and the only time one was delayed was my fault as I changed the address by hand on the label as the next door neighbour to where I was sending it had very similarly named house and it was…[Read more]

  • Absolutely the best thing I did was get a really good accountant who knows his stuff inside out.

  • From someone who is ‘in business’ and has been throughout the last fifteen years employed, self employed and latterly ending up the director of my own limited company, utilizing two different ‘trading names’, there are a lot of different aspects to your question(s).

Self employed as a ‘sole trader’ is the simplest form, ie you work literally for…[Read more]

  • Sar replied to the topic UK most obese in Europe in the forum Chit chat 7 years ago

@kelly I agree. Sugar in a multitude of forms has been introduced by food manufacturers – imo the worst ‘innovation’ was the ‘low-fat’ industry – and the myth perpetrated by the manufacturers and the medical profession that eating fat makes you fat. I remember as a child (in the ’50s and ’60s) always having a pudding after meals but those puddings…[Read more]

  • Maybe they are not playing you up, but telling you something? As above.

  • Guests like turbot go off in three days .
no matter how much you love the people it’s hard work and you can’t just create more time and if you have horses you just can’t make the horses disappear .
You end up tired frazzled and behind on stuff you need to do.
It’s just the way it is.
OP six days is too long next time make sure it’s three nights max .

  • im a driving instructor and teach a lot of slightly older ladies, and it is normally ladies who learn late, either after theyve had their children, or if their husband gets ill and cannot drive. Go for it, but make sure you get an instructor you like and you get on with. Someone who makes lessons fun. Honestly the more you start to enjoy them, the…[Read more]

  • The naff weather won’t have helped. Can you get a sunshine break – just a few days can really change your outlook. Or do a review each evening, 3 things that happened in the day which you enjoyed. If there aren’t any, then you need to be working on it and maybe lowering expectations for a little while. Mojo often links to sunshine for some people,…[Read more]

  • Sar replied to the topic Dream what do they mean? in the forum Chit chat 7 years, 2 months ago

I have very bizarre dreams sometimes that I remember a lot of details about. Mostly they don’t make sense and are very strange.
The only ones I’ve had that I could place a reason for, was when my horse was very very sick and I kept dreaming that she was on the other side of a river and I couldn’t get to her. I had that dream regularly until she…[Read more]

  • You are absolutely right, the sooner we get rid of this ideology driven set of ********* (no idea what I’ve starred out – I can’t think of a word bad enough!) he better. And now they’re trying to roll Universal Credit out all over, even though it is obvious that it isn’t working properly in the pilot areas, with claimants being left without access…[Read more]

All you can do is lay the options out before him and leave him to make up his own mind. Nagging won’t do any good and I assume that you have tried the ‘We would really love to have you nearer to us’ approach, which would probably be more effective.

  • Whereabouts are you based? (pM me if you prefer). I might know a recruiter who could help.

  • No. I feel bad enough taking sick days when I’m actually sick, and I couldn’t deal with the anxiety of being found out.

My company are really approachable though, could you ask them for a day unpaid leave, or ours allow us to trade in additional holiday so we can buy and sell days on a divisional level- might be worth looking at?

  • Sar replied to the topic Drink Driving? in the forum Chit chat 7 years, 2 months ago

I dont think as many people drink drive that same night but too many drive to work in the morning still absolutely plastered thinking that because they have had a few hours kip they will be fine.

I have never drank, never been drunk, never had a hang over. Whenever I go out with people from work they are always telling me to ‘just have one’ etc.…[Read more]

I personally think there should be a ZERO drink/drive limit and have never an will never
drink/drive or drive the following morning if I drank over one unit or drank it late.

OP, I am sure your GP will sign you off but don’t dismiss the offer of medication if there is one. There is no shame in taking a low dose of ‘happy pills’. Indeed they may help you cope with the mundane things in life, like washing up, cooking etc, if you can get a handle on the small things the bigger ones are easier to cope with.

  • The ‘liking’ thing on FB doesn’t really bother me either way, what does make me want to shout rude words, are photos of peoples coffee/ lunch/. I mean why ? who cares . Or the people tagged in the gym, ooh look at me I’m getting up at 6am to do a spinning class.
