Wanting to stop is the most important thing. My thought would be…….don’t mix with anyone else who drinks. Go to social scenes such as cafes. Go on a trip with no access to alcohol. Treat yourself to posh soft drinks. Think of things to do with the money that you save. Best wishes.

The NHS can never meet demand as the public’s wants are infinite and supply will always be finite. Every time it treats a patient and stops them dying, it leaves them alive to get some other ailment.

Throwing money at it does not make it better, an example being my GP and his colleagues cut their hours when the last Labour government gave them all a pay rise. He gleefully told me about the classic car restoration business he was able to start. Pay them more, they work less. Nice.

I looked into this a bit as I have a 2-bed which I can easily afford myself but was toying with the idea of letting the spare room (for more pony money!) – the letting agents wouldnt have it unless the other person was named on the tenancy.

I have an 8 year old Bosch machine and I can honestly say I don’t even know where the filter is. I think I had better go and find it ;D

Are you sure its rising damp. I had damp at the front of my house which appears from the ground up the first floor outside wall, I assumed rising till i actually watched the rain come down, flood over my gutter and bounce off the ground outside and then hit the front of the house. It had clearly been happening for several years. A quick trip up a ladder and i adjusted all my gutter and thats stopped that. Ive got to rip the render off to the first floor level, but thats not a major job as I will rip it off and my builder will re render for me.

As mentioned take a builder and also go on a rainy day and watch carefully.

      Thanks.
OH is a sole trader and I would say went to an accountant just being excited with the idea (and not to the cheapest one), the guy just hasn’t looked through paperwork properly.

      Sorry guys for hijacking.

What is correct way to tell an accountant to where to go?

My bunny has the whole garden and sleeps in the shed- the amount they move around is amazing- please don’t keep yours in a hutch. They also love to nibble on a variety of grasses/ shrubs.

Any AST has to be a minimum of six months.

She legally has a tenancy agreement and he has nothing. I would ask her to give you the full written notice and tell her you are not willing to grant him a new tenancy agreement. Return her deposit pending the check out, and either let it sit empty or relent to someone else after they have completed referencing. Don’t let them back you into a corner because he’s already there, that’s not how things work.

I work for BT. All BT employees have what we call an EIN number (9 digit number). If you get calls from BT ask the caller for their EIN. If they can’t provide this then they do not work for BT. If they do then you can call any BT number and provide them with the EIN, they can tell you what office that person works in and who their manager is.

As others have said, let yourself recover from illness first. Then, address the sugar. I will say, though, in my experience, the more you address the fitness, the less likely you are to indulge in the sugar.

I have downloaded the Pacer App and I aim for 15000 steps per day excluding any riding (45 mins on the horse seems to equate to 6000 steps). Mucking out, turning out, bringing in, grooming seems to equate to about 6000 steps so there’s quite a lot of activity needed to hit that target and it’s not easy with a desk job. A 30 minute run tends to add another 6000. On days that I’m not exercising, I lower the target to 12000.

So, my saviour is Joe Wicks and his HIITs. Doesn’t have to be him, but the HIITs have really sorted out my fitness. He does 15 minute ones, 20 minute ones, 25 minute ones in a variety of styles, including low impact, dumbells, kettlebells, fat burning, core, etc. They’re free on YooToob on Bodycoach TV. When you are feeling up to it, why not squeeze a low impact HIIT in a couple of times per week and go from there?

Just looked into it and it says no transfers. I will just have to suck it up and enter again next year. I know I could make my body get round as I’m so bloody minded but I think I’d end up a mess and likely set back any other training I want to do.

I hate feeling like I’m quitting. I have a chiropractors appointment tomorrow and will discuss it with him, he’s the only person who takes a real interest but doesn’t seem to be able to help. The existing injury is annoying me at the moment, two years is far too long to put exercise on hold and so I’m getting depressed and frustrated. But I do fear you may both be right and that the sensible thing to do would be to withdraw. Even riding makes me feel sick, although I’m not going to give that bit up!

Put the batteries in tonight and left them for a bit. They chirped a couple of times in the first 5 mins but haven’t for the last 4 hours. Double checked and they’re not CO alarms, just smoke so I don’t think it’s CO. Also checked the CO alarm and it’s working so I think the next step will have to be an electrician. Will ask fire service for a check just to be sure. I spent all week last week in work tweeting about free fire service checks and never thought it could apply to me! D’oh!

when i was a child i spent all the school holidays with a family on a farm.
The family is stayed with were a bit lie the darling buds of May, there was allways something going on, it was a much happier place than my own home.
there was mum,dad and four children. one night in 1982 three of the young family were killed in an accident. The driver of the car that hit them was an alcoholic. Another motorist had watched helplessly as she clipped the pavement and clipped parked cars. Eventually her car hit the mini that the youngsters were travelling in. They were 18 ,19 and 23.
Ive watched their mum and dad live their lives, their dad was laid to rest with them a couple of years ago and now its just mum left. The saddest thing was when their one grandson got married ..it really highlighted the enormity of that one night many years before. the grandson had no aunties or uncles at his wedding.
I was 15 when they died and obviously have never driven under the influence………..It would feel like telling their mum that they were nt important.
I think the lady who killed them was lucky in that she died in the crash too…Im not sure anyone could live with that.
thats what i think about drin driving!!!

I am sure GP will sign you off without meds.

I would also advise that in a lot of areas you can self refer to your local IAPT service, they usually provide 6 ish CBT sessions initially that you may find helpful. It is quite good at explaining the whys (and I like knowing why )

Also if you need to be kinder to yourself may I suggest that you might find this an interesting read. It is a wicked cycle the feel rubbish/I shouldn’t feel rubbish/why aren’t I coping/I should be coping one.

I would agree with pakkasham, quite often these issues come from higher up. When my pelvis gets bad enough my feet set off eventually!

Personally as well as physio (which I need for other bits anyway) getting the ligaments working better really helped- I have mostly barefoot style shoes now.

The trouble with riding is that it does put the aggrevated area into constant stretch from having our heels down. I would also freeze a bottle of water and use that for rolling under the bottom of your foot after riding if you can/and evenings.

@frogface Exactly what I was thinking. Private banks can’t just fabricate made up money. It does come from somewhere, whether it be from those who invest in the bank, inter bank borrowing or such like. No bank would need bailed out if they just fired on a few extra zeros to their stash! New money needs to be introduced carefully, as the more of it there is, the less value it has. We all know what happens then!

The issue with the NHS is it wastes money. If the NHS was a business it would be trying much harder to not only stop throwing money anyway, but also treating its “customers” better in terms of waiting times and what not.

I don’t know the answer, and know that privatisation goes against the ethos of the NHS. But maybe it’s about time that it was managed as if they “customers” were paying for a service ( since technically we do!) and costs managed. I certainly don’t mean cutting services, quite the opposite. If your a business you can’t cut services and expect more customers. I mean simply to stop wasting money.

I was in an NHS building the other day. I was there 3 months ago, and a year ago. Every time it is absolutely roasting, way hotter than it should be. Every single window is open, whilst every radiator is on full blast. It’s a huge old building. The costs for that must be phenomenal. That will just be a tiny waste of money in the grand scheme of things I am sure.
