On the other hand, the government printing physical money leads to inflation, and then hyperinflation. This isn’t good, or a solution.
Google tells me that ‘seigniorage’ is the word for money being cheaper to produce than it’s face value. (that’s the ‘government makes a profit from printing money’ idea)
